MediNote is a voice-to-text dictation app for medical professionals. You dictate a note (for example a patient history or a treatment summary), the app converts your speech to text, lets you edit it, and can hand it to your email app so you can send it to yourself. This policy explains what data the app handles and how.
MediNote has no user account, sign-in, or registration of any kind. It can be used entirely anonymously and stores no personal profile about you.
The following is stored locally on your device only:
This data never leaves your device except in the two cases described below (transcription and email), and only when you trigger them.
When you start a dictation, the app records audio from your microphone. Recording happens only while you have an active dictation and only after you grant microphone permission. The recording is stored temporarily on your device for the sole purpose of transcription.
To convert your speech to text, the app sends the recorded audio over the internet to Groq, Inc. (a service provider located in the United States) through the Groq transcription (Whisper) API. Groq returns the recognized text, which is then stored locally in your note.
Important: the audio you dictate may contain sensitive information, including personal or health data about other people (for example patients). By dictating, you send that audio to Groq for processing. Groq’s handling of this data is governed by Groq’s own privacy policy and terms, available at groq.com/privacy-policy. Please review Groq’s policies and make sure your use complies with the rules that apply to you (see “Your responsibility” below).
When you choose to send a note, MediNote opens your device’s email app with the note text pre-filled. The app itself does not send email and does not connect to any mail server; delivery is handled entirely by the email app and email provider you choose. Their privacy policies apply once the message leaves MediNote.
MediNote is a tool that processes whatever you choose to dictate. If you dictate personal or health data about other people, you are the party responsible for that data (the data controller) and Groq acts as a processor on your behalf. You are responsible for having a lawful basis and any required consents, and for complying with applicable data-protection and medical-confidentiality rules (such as the GDPR) and with your employer’s or institution’s policies. Avoid dictating more identifying information than necessary.
MediNote contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs of any kind. It does not collect, sell, or share your data with anyone other than the transcription and email services described above, and only to provide the features you use.
All notes and settings are local. Uninstalling the app permanently removes everything it stored. See Account & Data Deletion for details, including data handled by Groq.
